    Job description

3 Part Time & 3 Full Time Positions Available

Sugar Bowl Resort is looking for an experienced Advanced Line Cook to own station execution and help drive the production of menu items across our food service outlets. You’ll bring real technique and speed to the line, working with more independence than an entry-level cook while helping mentor newer team members along the way. This role calls for solid culinary fundamentals, a sharp eye for consistency, and the ability to keep your head (and your station) together during a packed service. If you’re ready to take the next step in your culinary career and want to be part of a kitchen that takes pride in getting it right, we’d love to have you on our line.

    Why Sugar Bowl?

Sugar Bowl Resort has been proudly independent for over 80 years and is one of the oldest ski resorts in California. Situated atop beautiful Donner Summit, Sugar Bowl has a storied past with ties to Austrian ski culture, Hollywood and Walt Disney. This special community helped bring skiing to “sunny California” since December 1939. Since then, it continues to attract adventurous winter sports enthusiasts alike.

    Who You Are:

    · 2+ years of experience in food and beverage operations

    · Advanced knife skills, with speed and precision under pressure

    · Strong working knowledge of kitchen equipment operations

    · Strong knowledge of proper sanitation procedures

    · Comfortable running a station independently during high-volume service

    · A natural mentor, comfortable guiding newer cooks through technique and pace

    · Clear, calm communicator, especially with front of house and other departments

    · Committed to consistency and quality on every single plate

    · Treats teammates and guests with kindness and professionalism at all times

    · Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for a resort operating schedule

    · Open to learning new skills and supporting other departments as needed — a versatile, team-first mindset

    · Holds a current California Food Handler’s certification

    What You’ll do:

    · Maintain prompt attendance for all shift duties

    · Own a station and independently execute menu items to Sugar Bowl’s standard

    · Stock and rotate food deliveries

    · Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times

    · Execute proper food production, storage, and holding techniques

    · Ensure all necessary food prep tasks are completed before service

    · Clean kitchen production equipment, including slicers

    · Mentor and support newer cooks on technique, pace, and station setup

    · Maintain proper rapport with front of house, other departments, and guests

    · Execute special events when necessary

    · Maintain proper conduct and grooming standards at all times

    · Assist with end-of-shift cleaning and shutdown procedures

    · Assist with setup and operation of outside/satellite food service operations

    · Cross-train and lend a hand in other departments as needed, building a broader understanding of resort operations

    Physical Requirements:

    · Standing for extended periods throughout a shift

    · Comfortable working near heat, open flames, and hot equipment

    · Manual dexterity for knife work, plating, and operating kitchen equipment

    · Sufficient visual acuity to maintain consistent, high-quality plate presentation under time pressure

    · Sufficient auditory acuity to communicate clearly in a loud kitchen environment

    · Comfortable lifting and carrying food deliveries and supplies up to 50 lbs

    Winter Benefits:

    · Employer sponsored 401k plan after 1,000 worked hours and one (1) year of service

    · Paid sick time
