WARD 4, DISTRICT 2

JOB DESCRIPTION:

CUSTODIAN

JOB SUMMARY:

The SPAR Recreation and Aquatic Center Maintenance position is responsible for a wide variety of activities such as repairs and cleaning to ensure that our facilities are both tidy and functional. Being reliable and self-motivated with a keen eye for detail is essential in this job and the employee should have the manual dexterity and physical stamina necessary for this work.

Entry level part-time recreation position within the district.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties that may be performed.)

Inspects the building, grounds, and equipment.

Handles necessary repairs and maintenance.

Installs equipment and appliances.

Follows local and state building codes.

Complies with all company safety regulations.

Keeps a maintenance log and writes shift reports.

Reports any issues to the facility maintenance supervisor.

Responds to repair and maintenance requests in a timely fashion.

Loads and unloads equipment and tools into work vehicles if needed.

Follows written and verbal instructions from the facility maintenance supervisor.

Collaborates with the maintenance team and contractors as needed.

Reads and follows manuals, blueprints, and other written instructions.

Uses equipment, including power tools, hand tools, electric tools, and plumbing

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be at least 18 years old.

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Prior experience as a technician, electrician, plumber, or related fields.

Good knowledge of plumbing and electric systems.

Ability to follow instructions and manuals.

A general sense of cleanliness.

Strong ability to organize and multitask.

Must possess a valid Louisiana Driver’s License and be insurable.

Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions.

Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform physical activity.

CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire)

Must pass physical examination, drug testing, driving record check and criminal background investigation.

SCHEDULE:

Part-time hours; shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays based on facility needs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Indoor and outdoor recreational and aquatic center setting.

May involve exposure to wet and humid conditions, cleaning chemicals, and occasional loud noise levels.
