As a Field Service Technician, you’ll play an important role in supporting our customers by inspecting, testing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and servicing electrical power distribution equipment. This hands-on role will primarily support customers and service needs throughout the Southeast region, while flexibility to support other regions may be required based on business priorities, customer demands, and operational needs. You’ll work in a variety of environments, apply your technical expertise to solve complex electrical challenges, and deliver exceptional service to our customers.
- Independently inspect, test, troubleshoot, and maintain low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical distribution equipment.
- Perform electrical testing on transformers, breakers, switchgear, relays, and related power distribution equipment.
- Identify equipment issues and assist in diagnosing electrical problems and determining appropriate corrective actions.
- Interpret one-line diagrams and control schematics to support testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
- Operate industrial electrical test equipment and hand tools safely and effectively.
- Respond to customer needs and occasional emergency service calls with professionalism, urgency, and a strong customer-service focus.
- Communicate testing results, equipment conditions, and identified issues to customers, senior technicians, and internal stakeholders.
- Follow company and customer safety standards, including PPE, lockout/tagout, hazard awareness, and established electrical safety procedures.
- Complete accurate daily reports, test documentation, service records, and other required paperwork.
- Properly manage, check in/out, maintain, and care for company tools and test equipment.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a field service team.
- Extensive travel locally and regionally, based on business and customer needs.
- Overtime and work outside of regular business hours, including nights and weekends, may be required based on outages, emergency service calls, and project deadlines.
- High school diploma or GED; technical training or associate degree in electrical trades preferred.
- NETA 2 certification preferred; will substitute 3+ years of relevant work experience on commercial or industrial electrical projects
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to exceptional customer service.
- Ability to read and interpret one line diagrams and control schematics.
- Skilled in the use of industrial electrical test equipment and hand tools.
- Strong commitment to safety, including PPE use, lockout/tagout, and hazard awareness.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background and drug screen requirements.
- Willingness to travel to job sites and work extended or irregular hours as needed.
- Eligibility to work in the US without need for employer sponsored VISA (work permit)
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and work in outdoor or industrial environments.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces.
- Ability to work extended hours, including nights or weekends during outages or emergency service calls.
