We have an exciting opportunity for a High Voltage Cable Termination Specialist. Reporting to the Technical Field Services Client Manager, the successful candidate will be accountable to support project teams and field projects; ultimately providing exceptional client service through repair and maintenance of primary and secondary power equipment.
Accountabilities:
- Installation of Medium and High Voltage Stress Cones (cold and Heat Shrink)
- Ability to install splices on Medium and High Voltage Cables (up to 72kV)
- Repair, Terminate and troubleshoot low, medium and high voltage power cables
- Installations to include heat shrink and cold shrink
- Work safely and effectively on low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems in a variety of environments, including commercial, utilities, manufacturing, mining, pipeline and oil and gas
- Testing and diagnosis of cable health via DC, VLF / Tan Delta and Partial Discharge Test methods
- Participate in training programs to progress your skillset as a world-class cable jointer on various types of cables with various jointing products/methods
- Confidently work with various brands of test and troubleshooting equipment
- Complete technical report writing
- Interact with clients in a courteous and professional manner
- Identify and implement process improvements
- 4th year or Journeyman Electrician, Power Lineman, PSE (Power Systems Electrician) or Electrical Engineering Technologist
- Trade or tech school certification required
- Hands-on experience with electrical maintenance (low to high voltage power) is an asset
- Pfisterer termination experience is an asset
- Broad knowledge in commercial, industrial and utility environments
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Ability to self manage with proven initiative and client focus
- Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- The ability to travel to remotes sites, work flexible shifts, which include weekends, evenings and statutory holidays
