Responsibilities:
- Plans, organizes, and conducts occupational therapy programs to facilitate the development and treatment of injured, ill, or disabled patients through the therapeutic use of everyday activities.
- Assist patients in developing, recovering, improving, and maintaining the skills needed for daily living and work.
- Aquatics interest/experience is a plus!
- Address patient aspects of performance to support engagement in occupations that affect health, well-being, and life quality.
- Select and adapt the appropriate per-case occupational therapy treatment model, method, and approach to direct the process of interventions.
- Apply interventions to maximize safety and performance in activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL).
- Teach patients new ways of approaching tasks and educate them on how to break down activities into achievable components.
- Assess patients' homes and other environments and advise on alterations consistent with their needs and capabilities.
- Recommend adaptive equipment and train in its use.
- Guide and educate family members and caregivers.
- Observe, note, and report on the progress of long- and short-term treatment goals.
- Collect data, and document processes followed.
- Documents patient care services according to approved medical documentation and facility documentation procedures.
- Develops a plan for patients following completion of their Plan of Treatment with appropriate in-home care services.
- Leads by example and exhibits professionalism at all times.
- Holds themselves accountable and encourages collaboration and flexibility within the department and interdepartmental teamwork for positive outcomes.
