Quality Inspector - Phoenix 2nd Shift

Location

This position will be primarily based out of our Phoenix facilities located at 2610 South 21st Street, Phoenix AZ 85034.  Though pending business needs could slide to other AZ sites.

On-site, Full-time, 2nd Shift: Monday-Thursday, 10.00 hour shifts, 02:30PM-01:00AM, with potential for additional hours pending business needs.

English Comprehension

Each individual will be required to take and pass a short English comprehension test which follows CEFR A1 level guidelines in understanding.  This test is in English and includes a five sentence statement, followed by five questions related to the statement.  A passing score is 3 of 5 or more questions answered correctly.  Answers can be written in primary language as the intent of the test is only to show a base understanding level is known.  If unable to pass this test, we will not move forward with an interview, but strongly encourage each individual to work on improving their understanding and re-applying in the future.

As our business continues to evolve and meet higher standards in quality, safety, efficiency, and customer expectation, it has become increasingly important that all team members are able to show at minimum, a base comprehension in English.  Everyday paperwork such as work orders, blueprints, inspection forms, are all in English.  Our job status system and other programs are also in English.  It is vital that everyone can understand in full, the expectations set by these items to meet business expectations.

We do our best as a team to lend assistance when translations might be needed but this is not always available.  Phones are not permitted on the production floor for safety reasons, so base comprehension is necessary to remain effective in production efficiencies. 

Position Description

Quality Inspector's primary role within the organization is to have a keen eye for identifying defects and ensuring products meet quality standards.  The ideal individual has a background in Non-Destructive Inspection.  This position plays a critical role in maintaining product quality and customer satisfaction.  This position is on-site, full-time, and reports directly to Quality Supervisors for our Arizona-based operations. 

Essential Responsibilities

• Conduct visual inspections of incoming materials, components, and finished products to ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Perform dimensional and functional inspections using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and optical comparators.
• Follow established inspection procedures and document results accurately.
• Professionally, positively, and clearly communicate and interact with fellow peers, departments, and leadership.
• Perform assigned job tasks which meet or exceed company expectations.
  • If further training is needed, must show clear evidence of improvement on specified duty.
• Read and understand drawings, blueprints, and other task related documents.
• Adhere to all safety policies and rules while raising any concerns to direct supervisor or EHS team.

Qualifications

THIS IS AN INDUSTRIAL MANUFACTURING ENVIRONMENT WHICH REQUIRES PHYSCIAL CAPABILITIES.

Required

• High School diploma/equivalent.
• 1-3 years of professional experience in quality-based role.
• Comprehensive understanding in both standard and metric, dimensional and fractional measurements.
• Understanding of core Microsoft programs.
  • Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
• While on production floor:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, extend, reach, push, pull, grasp, and twist for long periods of time throughout shift, many positions are standing or walking majority of shift.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or push or pull up to 25lbs and occasionally lift and/or push or pull up to 50lbs without assistance.
• Fundamental understanding of English language and able to show evidence can read at base comprehension level.
  • Though we strive to bridge language gaps, most paperwork and programs are in English.
  • Reading is crucial as someone is not always readily available to provide translations.
• Stable and reliable attendance.
  • A pattern of Late Ins, Early Outs, Unexcused Call Outs, etc. is not acceptable.
• Strong positive work ethic.
  • Have a good history of safe work practices, focus on quality, and steady efficiency.
  • Personal errors in your specific department can happen, what is important is if you were able to learn from an error and move forward in a positive manner.
• Must pass medical pre-screen with physical and background check.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • We do not currently support individuals that require paid visa programs.

Preferred

• Multilingual; English and Español are Arizona site's primary languages.  Fluency in both is ideal, or strong familiarity in both.

• Experience working in a mid-size company where gap-filling is routine.
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
