Swansea Council is committed to ensuring the safety and protection of all children and young people and will take action to safeguard their wellbeing. Therefore we are currently looking to recruit School Crossing Patrols at various locations in Swansea to provide safer crossing to children and adults whilst crossing the road at or near a school.
We have a number of vacancies for permanent School Crossing Patrols. You will be required to work 10 hours a week (1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon) during term time only. The current salary is £25,614 (pro rata to 10 hours a week term time only or £13.28 per hour).

Our School Crossing Patrols are punctual, trustworthy, honest and dedicated men and women who are valued members of their community, who, no matter the weather, provide one of the friendliest faces in public service, being polite and courteous at all times.
As a School Crossing Patrol you should have knowledge of road safety, and an understanding of the current Highway Code. You will also need the ability to communicate with children and adults to ensure that they are safe whilst they are crossing the road.
The main duties of the post :
The gathering of school pedestrians in preparation for road crossing
The control and direction of pedestrians when gathered
The stopping of traffic when necessary
The reporting of matters connected with their duties
You will be provided with the correct training and uniform to carry out your duties.

The Adult Safeguarding Team enjoy weekly catchup meetings, ensuring your well-being is always top of the agenda. The Adult Safeguarding Team have regular peer group sessions to discuss cases and debate rationales, to ensure a streamlined approach to the safeguarding work that is undertaken. This also provides opportunities for learning and reflective practice.
The Adult Safeguarding Team have the benefit of their own designated Business Support Team, which ensures your valuable time is fully utilised appropriately.
