Do you enjoy helping people, staying organized and working around equipment?
Join Swanston's rental team and help customers find the right equipment for the job. You'll keep the rental counter running smoothly, support daily yard operations and delivery the friendly, dependable service our customers count on.
What you’ll do:
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and connect them with the right rental equipment for their needs
- Prepare rental agreements and contracts accurately and efficiently
- Collect and process payments for rental transactions
- Help customers safely load and unload rental equipment
- Pitch in with loading and unloading freight
- Keep inventory spreadsheets and rental records accurate and up to date
- Check in with current and past customers about their seasonal rental needs
- Reach out to prospective customers and share how Swanston’s rental equipment can help
- Help keep the yard clean, organized, and ready for business
- Stage equipment in the yard for sales and rentals
- Make sure equipment is fueled, washed, and ready to go
- Learn how customers work and build your knowledge of equipment models, features, safety features, and benefits
- Explain equipment safety features, options, and packages so customers can choose with confidence
- Partner with the service team to coordinate repairs and create work orders for rental equipment
- Help keep the yard, driveways, and sidewalks clear of snow during the winter
- Cross-train with the parts department and provide backup support when needed
- Jump in on other tasks as needed—teamwork makes the day run better
What you’ll bring:
- A high school diploma or GED
- Experience in a customer-facing or customer service role
- Experience with compact or heavy equipment—or knowledge of the construction industry—is a plus, but it isn’t required
- Comfort using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- A reliable, punctual approach to work
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to getting things right
- A genuine desire to provide great customer service
- Clear, friendly written and verbal communication skills
- Strong listening skills and an interest in understanding what customers need
- The organization and flexibility to juggle multiple priorities
- A respectful, considerate attitude toward customers, coworkers, and visitors
