Primary Responsibilities:
- Supervise, train, and mentor Lab Technicians to ensure testing accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
- Oversee laboratory operations, including sample testing, data recording, and equipment calibration and consumable inventory management.
- Review and analyze quality test results to ensure compliance with customer requirements, company standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with production teams to address quality concerns, investigate nonconformities, and recommend corrective actions.
- Assist in investigating quality complaints from customers, determining root causes, and implementing preventive measures.
- Maintain and enforce quality documentation, including test records, SOPs, and certifications.
- Lead internal audits, support external audits, and ensure readiness for customer visits.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce variability, and improve lab processes.
- Ensure a safe and organized lab environment in accordance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Paper Science, Quality Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Required Skills:
- Previous experience in quality control/assurance within a manufacturing environment required (paper industry experience strongly preferred).
- Supervisory or leadership experience in a laboratory setting.
- Strong knowledge of testing methods, lab instrumentation, and quality standards (ISO, TAPPI, etc.).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
