    Job description

Arlington Heights Ford is looking for an experienced, well-rounded Automotive Technician to join our Used Vehicle Reconditioning team.

This is a great opportunity for a technician who enjoys working on a variety of vehicles and different makes and models rather than doing the same work every day.

We are not necessarily looking for a Master Technician or a highly specialized transmission or diesel technician. We are looking for a dependable, productive technician with solid general mechanical skills who can inspect, diagnose and repair the types of issues commonly found when preparing used vehicles for sale.

If you’re currently a strong general service technician, automotive mechanic, used car technician, reconditioning technician, B-level technician or advanced maintenance technician and you’re ready for a busy dealership environment with consistent work, we want to talk to you.

    Job Responsibilities:

As a Used Vehicle Reconditioning Technician, you’ll help get our pre-owned inventory inspected, repaired and ready for our customers.

    Typical work may include:

    • Used vehicle inspections and safety checks
    • Oil changes and routine maintenance
    • Brakes and brake system repairs
    • Tires, rotations and balancing
    • Batteries and starting/charging systems
    • Steering and suspension repairs
    • Fluid services
    • Belts, hoses and filters
    • Cooling system repairs
    • Check-engine-light and basic diagnostic work
    • Minor electrical repairs
    • Light engine and mechanical repairs
    • Identifying additional repairs needed during the reconditioning process
    • Working on Ford vehicles as well as a wide variety of domestic, Asian and European makes

Heavy transmission, diesel or major engine work is not the primary focus of this position

    Benefits:

    • 401(k)
    • 401(k) matching
    • Dental insurance: EE, EC, ES & Fam
    • Vision insurance: EE, EC, ES & Fam
    • Health insurance: EE, EC, ES & Fam
    • Group Life and AD&D insurance
    • Disability insurance - Long-term and Short-term
    • Critical Illness Insurance:
    • Accident Insurance
    • Paid time off
    • Employee Discounts
    • Paid Training and Continuing education

    Requirements:

    • Has previous professional automotive repair experience
    • Is comfortable working on multiple makes and models
    • Has strong general mechanical knowledge
    • Can accurately inspect vehicles and identify needed repairs
    • Can perform maintenance and mechanical repairs efficiently
    • Has basic diagnostic and electrical troubleshooting ability
    • Takes pride in doing the job correctly the first time
    • Is dependable, productive and works well as part of a team
    • Has a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
    • Is willing to continue learning and developing their skills

ASE certifications are a plus, but we are more interested in real-world ability, experience and work ethic than a wall full of certifications
