    Job description

We’re Looking for Our Next Sports Director!

Do you believe sports can do more than create athletes?

At the Y, sports build confidence, friendships, teamwork, leadership, and belonging. We’re looking for a Sports Director who is ready to take that impact to the next level.

We’re searching for a leader who loves sports, loves people, and gets excited about building programs that bring a community together.

This isn’t a position where you simply maintain leagues and schedules. We’re looking for someone ready to build, grow, innovate, and lead.

    What You’ll Lead

As Sports Director, you’ll oversee a diverse sports operation serving youth, adults, and families. From youth leagues and adult sports to clinics, camps, pickleball, open play, and other recreational opportunities, you’ll create experiences that keep people active, connected, and coming back to the Y.

You’ll also have the opportunity to think creatively about how we use our spaces, identify new programming opportunities, and expand offerings to reach even more people in the community.

    We’re Looking for a Builder

Our next Sports Director will be someone who can:

    • Grow & Innovate — Develop new leagues, clinics, events, and opportunities while strengthening the programs we already offer.
    • Lead People — Recruit, train, coach, and inspire staff, officials, and volunteer coaches to deliver an outstanding experience.
    • Create Community — Build a welcoming sports culture where children, adults, and families feel connected, supported, and excited to participate.
    • Drive Results — Use enrollment, revenue, budgets, NPS, and participant feedback to set goals and continuously improve programs.

    What Success Looks Like

Our Sports Directors have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through both program growth and participant experience.

Success means growing participation, strengthening programs, developing staff, creating memorable experiences, and building a sports culture that people want to be part of.

But success isn’t only measured by numbers.

It’s kids discovering a sport they love. Parents finding a community. Adults reconnecting through competition. Coaches becoming mentors. Staff growing into leaders.

That’s the impact we’re looking for.

    Education/ Experience Required:

    • BA/BS in sports management, recreation management or similar field, business/ operational management or related field preferred.
    • Minimum of two years of experience in sports, camp or similar youth related programs with supervisory and payroll management experience required. Prior experience with youth development preferred.
