JOB SUMMARY
The PolySheet Technical Sales Engineer supports distributors, dealers, fabricators/OEMs, and direct end-use manufacturers in the effective use of Tangent’s HDPE PolySheet product line, used across furniture, outdoor kitchens, marine components, playgrounds, and industrial food equipment applications. This role combines technical expertise, customer engagement, and training development, serving as a key bridge between the market and Tangent’s Engineering team — partnering with customers across the channel on design and fabrication solutions, identifying the best applications for Tangent’s materials, and delivering training that ensures customer success. This is a remote, field-based role requiring up to 75% travel.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Serve as the primary technical resource for distributors, dealers, fabricators/OEMs, and direct end-use manufacturers on PolySheet products.
• Act as the bridge between the market and Engineering, representing field feedback, performance challenges, and customer needs to Engineering, and communicating engineering and product decisions back out to the channel.
• Collaborate with customers on design and fabrication solutions, including design recommendations, fabrication and machining techniques, and material/grade selection for applications such as furniture, outdoor kitchens, marine components, playgrounds, and industrial food equipment.
• Support fabricators and OEMs with fabrication best practices, tooling and machining guidance, and jobsite or production troubleshooting.
• Support new product launches by training distributors, dealers, fabricators, and end-use manufacturers on what changed, why, and how it affects specification or fabrication.
• Investigate and help resolve field and production challenges in coordination with Engineering, Production, and Quality.
• Support code, regulatory, and industry compliance documentation relevant to PolySheet’s end markets (e.g., NSF/food-contact requirements, marine-grade standards, playground safety standards) for customers, specifiers, and regulatory contacts.
• Develop training documents, manuals, and technical resources to support distributor, dealer, fabricator, and end-user education.
• Create and deliver presentations, in person and virtual, to train distributor, dealer, and fabricator networks on best practices and product line differences.
• Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, technical support requests, and solutions provided.
• Gather field and channel feedback and communicate insights to Product, Engineering, and R&D teams to support continuous improvement.
• Represent the company at industry trade shows, dealer events, and technical workshops.
