Everts Air Cargo is seeking a Building Maintenance Worker to join our team in Fairbanks. This is a well-rounded, hands-on maintenance role with exposure to a variety of building trades, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, energy management, and general facility maintenance.
You don't need to be an expert in every trade. This role is a great fit for someone who has practical skills in one or more areas, enjoys variety, and wants to broaden their experience across multiple trades rather than specialize in just one.
Job Summary:
Performs general maintenance, repair, adjustment, and minor construction work across a variety of building trades and facility systems to ensure Company facilities are safe, functional, and well maintained. Areas of work may include carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, energy management, and other general building maintenance.
The Building Maintenance Worker performs routine inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs within their demonstrated knowledge, experience, training, and authorization and assists with more complex projects as needed. This position works collaboratively with other members of the Building Maintenance team to apply individual strengths and shared knowledge in support of overall maintenance needs for Company facilities.

Essential Functions:
- Conduct routine, periodic, and special inspections of facilities, systems, machinery, and equipment; troubleshoot identified issues and determine appropriate maintenance or corrective action.
- Perform and/or assist with plumbing maintenance and repairs involving piping, fixtures, drains, water, drainage, sewer, and other facility plumbing systems.
- Perform and/or assist with electrical maintenance and repairs involving lighting, fixtures, switches, outlets, controls, and other facility electrical components within the scope of training and authorization.
- Perform and/or assist with the inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repair of mechanical systems, building controls, and energy management systems.
- Perform general carpentry and construction-related maintenance, including the repair, alteration, or replacement of walls, flooring, roofing, siding, doors, windows, partitions, fixtures, and other building components.
- Perform painting and general building repairs, including wall and surface repair, surface preparation, painting and finishing, and the repair or replacement of building fixtures and components.
- Read and interpret applicable drawings, diagrams, blueprints, equipment information, and work specifications necessary to complete assigned maintenance and repair work.
- Safely operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, machinery, and equipment appropriate for assigned maintenance, repair, and construction tasks.
- Coordinate and support maintenance, repair, renovation, construction, preventive maintenance, and facility improvement projects while meeting established timelines and operational needs.
- Estimate material, tool, equipment, and supply requirements for assigned work and communicate needs to the supervisor in advance.
- Work collaboratively with internal customers, supervisors, team members, vendors, and contractors to complete facility maintenance needs and projects, recognizing when additional guidance or specialized expertise is required.
- Inspect facilities and work areas for maintenance deficiencies, safety hazards, fire and life safety concerns, and potential code compliance issues; report concerns and take appropriate corrective action.
- Safely operate Company vehicles and equipment and conduct required pre-use inspections to ensure equipment is in proper working condition.
- Follow all Company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), ladders, scaffolding, and work platforms.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on assigned tasks as required.
- Respond to emergency maintenance situations as needed, including after-hours or on-call assignments when required.

Qualifications:
- Valid Driver’s License is required.
- Must be able to pass an Airport Background Criminal History Check.
- Must be able to work effectively in a drug-free workplace and comply with company drug and alcohol policies.
- Must be able available to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call schedules.
- Previous hands-on experience in building maintenance, facilities maintenance, property maintenance, construction, or a related trade or mechanical field is preferred.
- Practical knowledge or experience in one or more areas of building maintenance, such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, energy management, or general facility repair. Advanced experience across all areas is not required.
- Mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability to safety use common hand and power tools appropriate for assigned work. Ability to troubleshoot common maintenance problems, identify potential causes, and perform repairs within the employee’s level of knowledge, experience, training, and authorization.
- Ability to work independently on routine assignments, collaborate effectively with team members with varying areas of expertise, and recognize when additional guidance or specialized assistance is needed.
- Willingness and ability to learn unfamiliar maintenance tasks and expand practical knowledge across multiple building trades and facility systems.
- Must be dependable, organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to adapt to changing priorities and maintenance needs.
