JOB SUMMARY:  The software engineer for the US Navy PMW 130, NAVWAR will be responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining software solutions for the Navy’s cybersecurity program office. You will work with a team of engineers and analysts to support the implementation of a fully integrated architecture that provides confidentiality, integrity, and availability of capabilities through innovative acquisition of maritime cybersecurity products. The software engineer is expected to be familiar with a wide range of software development tools and methodologies. Responsible for the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment. This includes designing software solutions, writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code, testing, and debugging software applications, and ensuring that they meet the organization's needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ability to utilize web and software programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, etc.
• Experience building and deploying scalable, distributed applications.
• Understanding of serverless architecture and event-driven design.
• Adaptable in a fluid professional environment with evolving tasking and priorities.
• Punctual with operational deadlines and meeting tasking requirements as assigned
• Knowledgeable in cybersecurity principles, standards, and best practices.

• Create high-quality software architecture and design.
• Identify, prioritize, and carry out tasks across the software development life cycle.
• Create tools and applications by developing clean, efficient code.
• Utilize tools and programming to automate tasks.
• Designing, develop, and maintaining software systems.
• Evaluating and testing new software programs.
• Optimizing software for speed and scalability.
• Consulting with clients, engineers, security specialists, and other stakeholders.
• Providing defense against attacks and delivering tactical advantages.
• Develop tools and techniques in the information environment that ensure situational awareness.
• Serve as a key part of a mission to gain a deep understanding of the inner workings of adversaries and developing unmatched knowledge.
• Experience with crypto and key management, network security, endpoint security, cyber analytics, cross domain solutions, and computer network defense
• Collaborate with end-users and technical team members to identify software needs and requirements.

• Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code that adheres to coding standards and best practices.
• Test and debug software applications to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and software development trends to recommend improvements and upgrades to existing software applications.
• Develop and maintain software documentation, including user manuals and technical documentation.
• Participate in the planning and implementation of software projects to ensure successful delivery.

COMPETENCIES:

• Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Java, Python, C++, or C#.
• Experience with software development tools and methodologies, such as Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall.
• Knowledge and understanding of serverless architecture and building/deployment of scalable and distributed applications.

• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to adapt to changing requirements and priorities.

• Familiarity with software testing and debugging techniques.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• IAT Level II certification is required, minimum Security+ CE

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in software development and cybersecurity

• Must be adept at problem solving, identifying risk, and communicating results and recommendations to the task lead and lab manager
• This level is intended to coincide with DoD 8570.01M IAT/IAM/IASAE Level II, must comply with the associated qualification and certification requirements.
• Clearance: Must possess and maintain a Secret clearance; prefer a Top-Secret clearance.
