Job Summary:

The Specialist will play a critical role in supporting an upcoming project by providing guidance and offering proactive relevant solutions. They will offer specialized insights, support program development, and help convert organizational goals into actionable plans. The Specialist will work with both internal and external subject matter experts to enhance functional impact and operational effectiveness.

Program Overview:

The Finance Specialist reporting to the Finance Controller will support shared and project activities, ensuring the effective use of donor financial resources to meet project goals.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities:

• Support delivery of finance and accounting activities through refined approaches in accordance with donor regulations and expectations
• Offer insight on the development of robust policies, procedures and systems of internal control frameworks and quality assurance processes
• Assist with developing and implementing roll-out activities including developing and facilitating trainings, capacity building, tools, templates, documents and knowledge sharing to team members and partners
• Contribute to reporting requirements both within the program and other requests as needed
• Analyze and provide solutions to improve budgeting, monitoring and program implementation on the basis of feedback
• Ensure all vendor invoices are properly reviewed for accuracy, correctness, and completeness  in line with cost principles and payments are made in accordance with TechnoServe policy
• Participate actively in month end closure activities and take lead in reconciling all expenses and inflows relating to the project
• Take the front line in all financial and accounting matters related to the project
• Stay abreast of industry and market trends, competitive landscapes, industry dynamics, emerging technologies and regulatory changes
• Participate in the completion of deliverables on time and within budget

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or related field with; minimum 3 years’ experience in international development and or relative sector(s) or field(s)] or a Master’s degree with one year of experience in an international development sector.
• Understanding of international development ecosystems
• Possession of ACA/CNA/ACCA/CPA will be an added advantage.

Required Languages: Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills, including fluency in English languages.

Travel: Travel up to 50%

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience working in cross-cultural and multi-stakeholder environments highly desirable
• Experience in designing and/or organizing training and capacity building

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in business software and digital collaboration tools
