    Job description

    • Assignment Category: Full Time
    Why Join Us

Valley Baptist Physician Network is expanding its orthopedic program and seeking a fellowship-trained Hip & Joint Surgeon to join an established, multi-specialty group in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley. You'll operate within a 586-bed Level II Trauma Center equipped with cutting-edge surgical technology — including da Vinci robotic systems, Brainlab computer navigation, and an AIRO mobile intraoperative CT — bringing capabilities to South Texas that are rare in markets this size. A dedicated Ortho/Trauma floor, an on-site Ortho Trauma provider for VBMC coverage, and an MOB connected directly to the hospital OR mean your time goes to patients, not logistics. This is a high-impact opportunity in a fast-growing region where your skills will genuinely shape the standard of orthopedic care.

    Position Highlights
    • Hip & joint orthopedic surgery with fellowship training or extensive experience preferred
    • Flexible schedule: 2–3 days per week split between clinic and OR block time
    • Clinic hours Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
    • 70/30 inpatient/outpatient case mix
    • Estimated 3–5 call days per month, inclusive of general ortho call
    • Dedicated Ortho/Trauma floor at Valley Baptist Medical Center – Harlingen
    • Ortho Trauma provider on staff, providing VBMC coverage
    • Office located in the Medical Office Building with walking-distance access to the hospital OR
    • Potential for privileges at sister facility in Brownsville
    What We Offer
    • Competitive guaranteed base salary with productivity bonuses
    • Paid time off for vacation and CME, with CME stipend
    • In-house support for billing, coding, collections, IT, HR, and legal
    • Access to advanced surgical technology: da Vinci robotic systems, Brainlab navigation, AIRO mobile intraoperative CT, and Cirq robotic surgical arm
    • Malpractice insurance provided
    • Health, dental, and life insurance
    • 401(k) with employer matching
    • Deferred compensation program
    • Relocation assistance
    Candidate Requirements
    • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery
    • Fellowship training in Hip & Joint reconstruction preferred; extensive clinical experience considered
    • Trauma Certification a plus

South Padre Island's beaches are less than an hour away, and the area's family-friendly culture, strong schools, and welcoming community make it an easy place to put down roots. Whether you're drawn by the outdoor lifestyle, the low cost of living, or simply the chance to build something meaningful in an underserved region, the Valley delivers on both professional ambition and personal quality of life.
