Office Attendance – Office Attendance – To give you the best start in your new role, training will be completed onsite. You'll be based in our Newcastle office for the first 6 months. Following this period, the role will move to our hybrid working model, with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.

We're looking for a Claims Team Leader to join Third Party Settlement team.
At Tesco Insurance, our Claims team supports customers through some of life's most challenging moments. As a Team Leader, you'll lead a team of Claims Handlers, ensuring claims are managed proactively, fairly and efficiently while delivering excellent customer outcomes and maintaining technical excellence.
You'll play a key role in leading team performance, developing colleagues, managing risk and compliance, and ensuring claims are handled in line with policy, legal and regulatory requirements. Working with stakeholders across the wider business, you'll help drive continuous improvement and support the delivery of exceptional customer service.
What you’ll be doing
• Leading, motivating and developing a high-performing team to deliver excellent customer outcomes while achieving operational, service and business objectives within the Third Party Settlement function.
• Ensuring claims are managed accurately and consistently in line with policy cover, legal liability, fraud, ABI, FCA and business guidelines, while supporting effective third-party intervention and cost control.
• Managing colleague performance through coaching, development, recruitment, quality management and employee relations activities, building both technical capability and customer service excellence.
• Supporting the resolution of complex customer queries and escalations, coaching colleagues to influence outcomes, manage challenging conversations and deliver fair solutions for customers and the business.
• Monitoring team performance, identifying trends, risks, leakage and improvement opportunities, and implementing actions that enhance customer outcomes, operational effectiveness and claims cost management.
• Producing accurate reporting and maintaining compliance with regulatory, governance and company requirements while driving continuous improvement across the Third Party Settlement operation.
What we’re looking for: (minimum criteria)
• Proven experience leading, motivating and developing colleagues, including recruitment, performance management, coaching, succession planning, absence management and employee relations activities.
• Strong claims experience, ideally within motor claims, third-party claims, credit hire, customer settlements or intervention environments, with the ability to support technically accurate decision-making and deliver positive customer outcomes.
• Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to coach teams to build customer relationships, manage challenging conversations, resolve escalations and achieve commercially effective outcomes.
• Experience working within a regulated environment, with knowledge of governance and compliance requirements, strong organisational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Ability to identify trends, mitigate risk and drive continuous improvement across customer and operational performance.
