    Job description

    A small business with a 45-year history as a first-class materials science and applied research and development firm seeks a motivated and detail-oriented scientist to join our team. This role involves working in a chemistry/materials laboratory setting to aid in product development and conduct various tests, measurements, and inspections. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a lab environment, the ability to work independently, follow established procedures, document and present results accurately, and collaborate effectively with others.

    In this role, the ability to adapt and pivot between diverse projects is paramount. Our team engages in a wide range of activities, from cutting-edge organic synthesis to innovative formulations chemistry, and supporting an array of other programs.     Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform as a contributor in a chemistry/polymer science research and development lab.
    • Set up and operate production/test/measurement apparatus and perform chemical, thermal and mechanical tests.
    • Accurately record, document, and communicate data, ensuring compliance with defined methods and procedures.
    • Prepare reports and present recorded data in a prescribed format.
    • Operate laboratory equipment such as, chemistry equipment, thermal and mechanical equipment, vacuum pumps, and environmental chambers.
    • Troubleshoot basic technical issues and develop solutions as needed.
    • Maintain chemical and sample inventory, and perform routine lab maintenance such as cleaning glassware and equipment.
    • Follow all safety procedures and regulations to maintain a safe laboratory environment.
    • Assist with other project-related tasks as required.
    • This is an In-Person position and is NOT a remote role.

    The ability to acquire and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance is mandatory. For additional information, see:
