    Job description

TRI Environmental Group (TRI) is an independent laboratory testing, research, and information management company serving the environmental, geotechnical, and earthen infrastructure industries. The Project Coordinator coordinates laboratory testing workflows and provides administrative support at TRI’s Austin laboratory after scope and authorization are established. Client outreach is part of the job: regular outbound calls and emails to active, past, and dormant accounts. The work is client-facing and detail-heavy: the coordinator tracks active jobs, keeps project records straight, and keeps clients informed.

    Project Coordination & Operations Support

    • Maintain accurate project files, records, and sample information after project approval.
    • Confirm receipt of approved work orders and coordinate internal project setup for laboratory testing.
    • Track active projects as they progress through testing workflows.
    • Partner with laboratory, client services, and administrative teams to keep priorities aligned and work moving efficiently.
    • Help prioritize tasks and monitor deadlines across multiple active jobs.

    Client Communication

    • Provide clients with factual status updates regarding testing and laboratory processing stages, following established procedures.
    • Make regular outbound calls and emails to active, past, and dormant client accounts.
    • Re-engage inactive client relationships and follow up on open quotes, proposals, and potential testing needs.
    • Identify potential new opportunities and communicate them to laboratory or management staff for scoping and authorization.

    Workflow & Logistics Management

    • Coordinate daily workflow handoffs between departments to support efficient turnaround times.
    • Support scheduling priorities to keep laboratory production on track.
    • Identify and document scheduling or workflow issues that could affect testing or reporting and communicate solutions internally.
    • Coordinate information between clients, laboratory personnel, and internal staff as needed.

    Documentation & Reporting

    • Assist with preparation and release of laboratory reports.
    • Prepare, review, and organize project documentation.
    • Enter, review, and reconcile data in the ERP and LIMS systems.
    • Support QA/QC documentation, accreditation compliance, and traceability of client deliverables.
    • Verify consistency between reports, project documentation, and laboratory records.

    Schedule Requirements

    • Full-time position.
    • Participation in a rotating Saturday schedule is required approximately once every 4–6 weeks (2–4 hours reviewing and distributing laboratory results).
