The Senior Finance Systems Manager is responsible for leading the optimisation, enhancement, and strategic development of the Finance Systems landscape across Central Finance. The role serves as the key link between Finance, Technology, and the business, ensuring that systems effectively support business operations, improve efficiency, and enable future growth.
The role will leverage extensive retail and SAP experience to identify opportunities for process optimisation, systems automation, and technology innovation. They will lead the analysis, planning, and delivery of Finance Systems initiatives, including the use of AI and other automation tools, ensuring business requirements are translated into scalable and practical technology solutions.
Working closely with business stakeholders, Product Owners, technology teams, and vendors, this role will shape the future Finance Systems roadmap by maximising the value of the existing SAP environment and driving continuous improvement.
Lead the business analysis and solution design phase of projects – assessing system impacts, processes, dependencies, effort and options, and translating requirements into functional specifications
Partner with IT to deliver system enhancements, integrations, upgrades and performance improvements
Drive process optimisation and automation, reducing manual effort through SAP functionality, workflows and supporting technologies
Promote standardisation, simplification and continuous improvement across Finance Systems
Ensure projects deliver measurable operational improvements and business value
Build strong relationships across Finance, IT, Shared Services and the business, collaborating with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Developers and Infrastructure teams
Manage relationships with SAP partners and third-party vendors, and communicate progress and strategic priorities to senior leadership
Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Information Technology, Finance or a related discipline (essential)
SAP certification or equivalent practical SAP implementation and support experience (essential)
Project Management, Agile or Business Analysis certification (desirable)
Minimum of 10 - 15+ years' Finance Systems, ERP or Business Systems experience within a large retail environment (essential)
Minimum of 8 - 10+ years' hands-on SAP experience supporting Finance-related processes (essential)
Minimum of 5 - 8 years' experience in systems optimisation, business analysis, solution design, integrated delivery and technology-enabled transformation (essential)
Skills:
Deep functional SAP Finance expertise, with strong understanding of end-to-end finance processes and integration points
Strong business analysis and solution design capability – requirements gathering, impact assessment and functional specification writing
Project and portfolio delivery skills, including scoping, planning, budgeting, risk and dependency management
Process optimisation and automation skills, including workflow design and identifying opportunities to reduce manual effort
Systems and data analysis, with the ability to translate complex technical detail into practical business outcomes
Excellent stakeholder engagement, facilitation and communication skills at all levels, including senior leadership
Vendor and partner management, including managing SAP partners and third-party service providers
