Position Summary

Tampa Family Health Centers is seeking a Dental Assistant (EFDA) to support our dental care team. This role provides chairside assistance, supports clinical and administrative functions, and helps ensure a positive and efficient patient experience across multiple locations.

The Dental Assistant works closely with dentists, hygienists, and leadership to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with TFHC policies and Florida regulations.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist dentists and hygienists with chairside procedures in a general dental setting
• Prepare operatory rooms, instruments, and materials for procedures
• Sterilize instruments and maintain equipment and clinical areas
• Support front office functions, including scheduling and patient intake
• Submit pre-authorizations and maintain accurate patient records
• Coordinate with dental labs for case pickups and deliveries
• Monitor inventory and assist with ordering supplies
• Communicate effectively with patients and team members to support care compliance
• Travel to various TFHC locations and support the mobile dental unit as needed
• Assist with additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Graduate of an accredited Dental Assistant program
• Florida Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certification required
• Dental Radiology certification required
• Current CPR certification required
• Open to new graduates with completed in-person externship

Please note that employee's initial training schedule may differ from the regular schedule of the position. All new hires, including part-time employees, must be available for up to 40 hours of in-person, on-site training during their first week. Additional Mandatory training may continue for approximately two to three weeks, depending on the position and training requirements. Training may take place at a TFHC location other than the employees assigned work location.
