Benefits Coordinator
Position Overview
The Benefits Coordinator supports Ashley’s Benefits team by delivering responsive, accurate support to employees across all company locations. This role assists with the administration of employee benefit programs, processes medical court orders and coverage verifications, maintains benefit information in HRIS systems, and supports key benefits-related transactions.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, service-focused, and comfortable handling confidential employee information while providing professional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Benefits Administration & Data Management
- Process medical court orders, national medical support orders, local municipality coverage verifications, and address verifications.
- Maintain employee benefit information in HRIS systems, including additions, deletions, changes, dependents, court orders, and voluntary benefits.
- Ensure all court orders, verifications, and employee benefit data are processed accurately and confidentially.
Employee Support & Customer Service
- Provide professional customer service to employees by phone and in person.
- Answer benefit-related questions and clearly explain processes, forms, and requirements.
- Assist with employee training on benefits-related topics and provide backup support to other team members.
Transaction Support & Reporting
- Support the Benefits team with life claim processing.
- Assist with 401(k) data transmissions and review 401(k) system error reports.
- Complete special projects and additional assignments as needed.
Team Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in departmental meetings, training, and educational activities.
- Demonstrate the company’s Core and Growth Values in the performance of all job responsibilities.
- Apply continuous improvement practices to enhance benefits processes, tools, and employee experience.
Required Qualifications
- Education:
- Associate degree in business or a related field, or equivalent related work experience.
- Experience:
- At least 6 months of benefits experience.
- Experience working with HRIS systems.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Basic knowledge of health, dental, life, and disability benefit plans.
- Strong attention to detail and record‑management skills.
- Effective organizational, time‑management, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple priorities within established deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respond professionally to employee questions or concerns.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, internet‑based tools, and general computer applications.
- Working knowledge of continuous improvement practices.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Flexibility to work extended hours when business needs require.
- Role is performed predominantly in a climate‑controlled office environment with standard lighting and moderate noise.
- May involve:
- Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Pushing or pulling loads weighing up to 40 pounds.
