We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Specialist, Fund Reporting to join our Financial Reporting team. This role is located in Pune.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

Role Summary: This role plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of periodic financial reporting for our diverse portfolio of investment products. This role bridges traditional and alternative investment spaces, requiring technical expertise in financial statement preparation for registered investment funds (under the Investment Company Act of 1940) as well as alternative structures, including hedge funds, private equity (PE), and real estate funds. The ideal candidate brings strong fund accounting acumen, a deep understanding of US GAAP (ASC 946), and a track record of coordinating successfully with independent auditors and regulatory bodies.

    • 1. Financial Statement Preparation & Review
    • Lead the drafting, compiling, and technical review of complete sets of financial statements, including the Schedule of Investments (SOI), Statement of Assets and Liabilities, Statement of Operations, Statement of Changes in Net Assets, Statement of Cash Flows, and associated footnote disclosures.
    • Maintain a deep understanding of complex financial instruments, derivative products, and multi-tier fund structures (e.g., master-feeder, fund-of-funds).
    • Oversee the unique financial reporting requirements for alternative asset classes, ensuring accurate accounting for private equity capital calls/distributions, waterfall calculations, performance fees/incentive allocations, and real estate valuation adjustments.
    • 2. Regulatory Compliance & Valuation Oversight
    • Support compliance with the Investment Company Act of 1940, SEC rules, Regulation S-X, and specialized accounting policies (ASC 946 for Investment Companies and ASC 820 for Fair Value Measurements).
    • Assist in the preparation and filing of regulatory returns and SEC forms, including Form N-CSR, Form N-PORT, and Form N-CEN for registered funds.
    • Review asset valuations and valuation framework application to ensure consistency with fair value policies, particularly regarding illiquid Level 3 assets common in real estate and private equity portfolios.
    • 3. Audit Coordination & Lifecycle Management
    • Act as a primary liaison with independent external auditors, managing the year-end audit lifecycle, responding to technical inquiries, and maintaining comprehensive audit trails.
    • Prepare detailed audit support schedules, trial balance reconciliations, and variance analyses.
    • Collaborate closely with internal teams, gather necessary reporting data and ensure disclosure consistency across documents.
    • 4. Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to streamline financial reporting workflows, implement automation tools, and improve standard operating procedures to reduce operational risk and process cycle times.
    • Keep abreast of evolving accounting standards (FASB/SEC updates) and assess their impacts on fund reporting, proactively recommending necessary changes to disclosure templates.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

    Required Education & Experience

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline. Certified Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation, Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder, or equivalent professional credential.
    • Experience: 4 to 6+ years of progressive professional experience in fund reporting, preparation of financial statements of large asset managers and accounting, focused exclusively on the financial services sector.
    • Asset Class Expertise: Proven experience preparing financial statements for both registered funds (Mutual Funds, ETFs, or Closed-End Funds) and/or alternative investment funds (Hedge Funds, Private Equity, or Real estate).

    Technical Competencies

    • Thorough technical proficiency in US GAAP, specifically ASC 946 (Investment Companies), ASC 820 (Fair Value Measurements), and SEC Regulation S-X.
    • Experience handling partnership accounting, trial balance mechanics, equalizations, and complex allocation methods for alternative investment structures.
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., advanced formulas, data modeling, macro execution).
    • Familiarity with industry-standard fund accounting systems and reporting tools (e.g., Confluence Unity, Donnelly FundSuit ARC, Geneva, InvestOne, Yardi, Wall Street Office, or specialized financial reporting engines).

    Soft Skills & Attributes

    • Analytical Mindset: Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify anomalies, reconcile data discrepancies across multiple large-scale systems, and research complex accounting nuances independently.
    • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to explain intricate accounting concepts clearly to auditors, board members, and internal stakeholders.
    • Time Management: Demonstrated capability to work under pressure, balance multiple competing project lifecycles, and strictly adhere to rigorous SEC regulatory and stakeholder deadlines.
