    Job description

    • Base Salary Min: 83000
    • Base Salary Max: 168000

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President Java Engineer to join our payments enablement team. This role is located in Pittsburgh.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

    • Own the design, development, deployment, and production support of mission-critical backend services for financial products.
    • Write clean, tested, production-grade Java code and set the standard for unit testing, integration testing, code coverage, and static analysis.
    • Lead architecture decisions for new services and refactors, with clear documentation of trade-offs and non-functional requirements including latency, throughput, resiliency, and failover.
    • Drive production readiness through observability, alerting, on-call support, root-cause analysis, and permanent fixes over patches.
    • Git & delivery: Trunk-based or GitFlow discipline, small reviewable MRs, meaningful commits, automated pipelines with no manual gates.
    • Scrum: Active participant, not a passenger — refine and estimate stories, break down epics, unblock others, keep the sprint honest in stand-ups and retros.
    • Compliance & security: Secure coding, secrets management, data privacy, and audit requirements built in from the start.

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
    • 10+ years of professional Java development experience, including Java 17+ and deep Spring Boot / Spring ecosystem experience, including Spring Data, Spring Security, and Spring Cloud.
    • Proven experience delivering software in financial services or other regulated domains such as payments, trading, custody, risk, or market data.
    • Experience with REST API design, microservices, event-driven patterns such as Kafka or equivalent middleware, SQL, caching, performance tuning, cloud-native delivery, containers, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
    • Experience mentoring engineers, leading technical spikes, and contributing in architecture and vendor discussions.
