The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.
At The Boring Company, we are revolutionizing transportation and infrastructure through innovative tunneling solutions. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join our team, working on Tunnel Boring Machines during critical project operations and pre/post dig maintenance sprints. This role demands a strong background in maintaining and troubleshooting complex electrical and mechanical systems, ensuring the uptime, reliability, and efficiency of our cutting-edge machines.

    Responsibilities:

    • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in electrical and control systems to minimize downtime during operations.
    • Repair and replace faulty components, including motors, sensors, wiring, and control systems.
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement system upgrades, modifications, and improvements to equipment.
    • Provide on-site technical support during operations, addressing any electrical issues that arise in real-time.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Proficiency in working with complex electrical systems, including control panels, motors, PLCs, sensors, and wiring in industrial settings.
    • Solid understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair integrated systems.
    • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently, minimizing downtime in high-pressure environments.
    • Experience using diagnostic tools, electrical testing equipment, and software for troubleshooting and system analysis.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team, coordinating with engineers, technicians, and project managers.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Valid United States Driver's License.
    • Ability to lift and haul 25 lbs unassisted.
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time, stoop, bend, push and pull.
    • Position will require outdoor work in heavy construction areas.
    • This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
    Culture
We're a team of dedicated, smart, and scrappy people. Our employees are passionate about our mission and determined to innovate at every opportunity.
    Benefits

    About the company

    The Boring Company

To solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic, roads must go 3D, which means either flying cars or tunnels. Unlike flying cars, tunnels are weatherproof, out of sight and won't fall on your head. A large network of tunnels many levels deep would fix congestion in any city, no matter how large it grew (just keep adding levels). The key to making this work is increasing tunneling speed and dropping costs by a factor of 10 or more – this is the goal of The Boring Company. Fast to dig, low cost tunnels would also make Hyperloop adoption viable and enable rapid transit across densely populated regions, enabling travel from New York to Washington DC in less than 30 minutes.
