    Early Years Assistant - Fixed term until 29/06/2027

    Salary: £26,806-£27,032 (pro rata for part time and sessional)
    Hours: 16 per week, 39 weeks per year
    Mon-Thurs 10:00-14:00
    Estimated End Date - 29/06/2027

    Working pattern: Monday to Thursday 10:00-14:00

    An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Early Years team as an Early Years Assistant at Cramond Primary Nursery School.  Working Monday-Thursday from 10:00-14:00 you will join the team to work collaboratively as a member of the early years team.

    Assisting in meeting the educational, care and welfare needs of all children ensuring those with additional support needs who are able to attend a mainstream provision, can effectively access the curriculum. To be flexible and assist in carrying out general clerical duties as and when required in support of children’s learning. To provide support and assistance in the day-to-day operations of the School/Early Years Centre as directed by the Head Teacher/Head of Centre or nominated staff.

    Experience of working with children Knowledge, skills and understanding

    Must be able to communicate effectively

    Able to work co-operatively

    Able to prioritise workload and make decisions

    Able to demonstrate initiative Qualifications and training

    Good basic general education and be literate and numerate

    Must gain a SVQ2/SCQF Level 6 qualification within 3 years of taking up role.

    Must apply for registration with SSSC within three months of being offered post.

    Able to form effective relations with children, staff and parents

    Able to carry through tasks with groups of children as directed by senior staff e.g. supporting children with snack and lunch

    Understanding the needs of children and the ability to respond appropriately

    This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.  Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

    Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
