Grain Elevator Operator

Looking to build a hands-on career in grain handling with a company that promotes from within? The DeLong Co. is hiring an Elevator Operator - Level 1 to join our Hampshire team. You'll learn the fundamentals of grain handling operations, keep our facility running safely and efficiently, and be the friendly face our customers see when they pull in.

• Get hands-on training in grain handling, mobile equipment operation, and facility maintenance — no prior experience required
• Work as part of a close-knit team where your effort and safety awareness are noticed and valued
• Build real skills operating tandem trucks, tractors, and skid-steers alongside experienced operators
• Be a trusted face for customers coming through the Hampshire location
• Clear path to grow into an Elevator Operator - Level 2 role

This is active, outdoor work at a working grain elevator. You'll be on your feet dumping and loading trucks, keeping the facility clean and organized, and climbing up to the grain leg platform as part of daily operations. The environment includes:

• Outdoor work across all seasons and weather conditions, plus dusty environments
• Typical 40–45 hour weeks, with harvest season (approx. September–December) requiring weekends and 65–75 hour weeks
• Physical work including repeated lifting up to 40 lbs
• Climbing to the top grain leg platform and working safely within platform handrails

Required:

• Basic computer skills to navigate the internet for online education
• Ability to communicate well with customers and fellow employees
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance

Preferred:

• Comfort with basic mathematical concepts — percentages, decimals, multiplication
• Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge
• Willingness to learn all applicable Standard Operating Procedures for the facility
