SUMMARY The after-care assistant provides quality supervision for students participating in the program. - AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification.

- The omission of specific statements of the duties or functions does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification.
- Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Provides after-school supervision for students.
- Checks students in and signs them out to approved adults.
- Observes, monitors, and participate in children’s play activities whether small group or whole group.
- Provides supervised playtime outside (weather permitting) to provide a sage and positive environment.
- Fosters and supports the student’s spiritual, academic, social, emotional, and physical development.
- Efficiently redirects inappropriate student behaviors and implements the program discipline system to effectively monitor and guide proper student behavior.
- Communicates with the supervisor as well as parents regarding any problems that may arise during after-school care hours.
- Reports any problems to the supervisor and/or principal.
- Hours for position vary, but usually include weekday afternoons.
