SUMMARY The Athletic Coach will instruct students or individual players in the fundamentals of sports or a specific sport. - Educates individuals, students, or teams on the rules, strategies, and techniques for a sport or sports.
- Plans, organizes, and leads practice sessions.
- Trains, encourages, and motivates athletes to prepare them for games and competitive events.
- Teaches safety rules and regulations and ensures they are enforced.
- Develops physical conditioning programs that equip athletes to meet their potential.
- Evaluates team members to determine fitness levels and potential; assigns positions or roles to athletes based on strengths and weaknesses.
- Ensures athletes are using equipment properly and safely.
- Identifies the strengths and weaknesses of players and modifies coaching strategies accordingly.
- Remains current on changes in rules, coaching philosophies and techniques, and technology relevant to a particular sport or sports.
