Electrical/Control Systems Engineer
The GBS Group has an exciting opportunity for a Control Systems Engineer. As a Control Systems Engineer with GBS, you will work both independently and with a team of designers and engineers on complex projects related to Naval ship platforms. The position will develop and design state of the art systems for implementation aboard US Naval Vessels. This will include prototype execution and demonstration, troubleshooting, installation support and coordination. Direct training of ships personnel and support staff and life cycle support functions will be accomplished. This position will also contribute real value by developing future systems for HM&E Machinery Control Systems for U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, Army and Military Sealift Ships supported by the U.S. Navy.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide engineering and design support for integration of equipment in industrial and shipboard environments
- Provide technical input to the design of future Machinery Control Systems (MCS)
- Develop, derive, and refine system and software requirements
- Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, and system-level problems on fielded systems
- Review and develop technical documentation, including test procedures and system documentation
- Provide test support at the Land Based Engineering Site (LBES)
- Provide shipboard hardware and software installation and troubleshooting support to the fleet
- Support the design, development, testing, installation, and maintenance of MCS software and supporting products
- Identify, document, investigate, and resolve software and system-related problems
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline; Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering preferred, with other engineering disciplines considered based on experience
- 4+ years of professional experience
- Active DoD Secret clearance OR U.S. Citizen able to obtain a clearance
- Valid U.S. passport or ability to obtain one upon acceptance
- Ability to travel approximately 20–30%
Desired Experience:
- Industrial control systems
- Reading and interpreting electrical diagrams
- Electrical/industrial control system test and diagnostic equipment
- Hardware and system-level troubleshooting
- Network troubleshooting and network protocols, including TCP/IP and UDP
- Supporting and troubleshooting networked, IP-based systems
- Legacy embedded hardware platforms, including VME systems
- Technical writing and documentation
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and providing technical recommendations to engineering teams
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Including climbing ladders,
- Navigating confined spaces,
- Working on uneven surfaces
- Lifting/carrying equipment up to approximately 50 lbs.

- Salary: $75,000 - $95,000 based on experience
