    About the Role:

As a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) in the health care services industry in Canada, you will play a vital role in promoting the physical well-being and recovery of clients through therapeutic massage techniques. Your primary objective will be to assess clients' musculoskeletal conditions and develop personalized treatment plans that alleviate pain, reduce stress, and improve mobility. You will work closely with clients to understand their health history and goals, ensuring that each session is tailored to their specific needs. Collaboration with other health care professionals may be necessary to provide comprehensive care and optimize treatment outcomes. Ultimately, your expertise will contribute to enhancing clients' quality of life by supporting their physical health and rehabilitation processes.

Note that this is an independent contractor position.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct thorough client assessments including health history and physical evaluations to determine appropriate massage therapy treatments.
    • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using various massage techniques such as Swedish, deep tissue, and myofascial release.
    • Maintain detailed and accurate client records documenting treatments, progress, and any changes in condition.
    • Educate clients on self-care strategies, injury prevention, and wellness practices to support ongoing health improvements.
    • Adhere to professional standards, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements set by provincial massage therapy colleges.
    • Collaborate with other health care providers to coordinate care and ensure holistic treatment approaches.
    • Manage appointment scheduling, client communications, and maintain a clean, safe treatment environment.

    Skills:

    • The required skills enable the RMT to perform comprehensive client assessments and deliver effective, evidence-based massage treatments that address individual health concerns.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for building trust with clients and collaborating with other health care professionals.
    • Attention to detail and organizational skills are used daily to maintain accurate records and manage scheduling efficiently.
    • Preferred skills such as proficiency with electronic health records and specialized massage techniques enhance the therapist’s ability to provide advanced care and streamline clinical operations.
    • Additionally, bilingual communication skills can improve client engagement and accessibility, broadening the therapist’s impact within diverse communities.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Completion of an accredited massage therapy program recognized in Canada.
    • Current registration and licensure as a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) with the appropriate provincial regulatory college.
    • Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology relevant to massage therapy.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain client confidentiality.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working in multidisciplinary health care settings such as clinics or rehabilitation centers.
    • Additional certifications in specialized massage techniques or modalities (e.g., sports massage, lymphatic drainage).
    • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation.
    • Continuing education in pain management, injury rehabilitation, or wellness coaching is an asset.
