As a Contract Surety Underwriter at The Hartford you will support the Construction Bond line of business strategies by marketing and underwriting business in partnership with field office specialists.
Responsibilities:
Analyze and assess underwriting information and complex risk and make recommendations to management.
Maintain disciplined adherence to underwriting and service standards.
Weighs decisions between underwriting standards and customer needs and expectations.
Balances risk relative to return to make effective and acceptable underwriting decisions.
Assist in conducting client meetings/agency calls.
Develop marketing plans and strategies.
Cultivate customer and producer relationships to promote Bond products and services within regional office.
Seek out resources to identify and satisfy customer and producer needs.
Share pertinent information to support product development, market research and identification of business opportunities between Bond lines of business and other Hartford business units.
Implement strategy with area of responsibility in accordance with regional direction.
Effectively utilize the Bond Center to support sales and service objectives.
Ensure achievement of financial goals and business plan objectives.
Manage change effectively and positively.
Utilize system efficiently and effectively.
Qualifications:
3 + years of contract surety underwriting experience with large account experience is preferred; AFSB designation preferred
Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with all internal and external business partners
Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
An ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations and propose solutions.
High energy self-starter, who is resilient and has an entrepreneurial spirit
Demonstration of solid time, organizational, and desk management skills
Goal-oriented and delivers outcomes
Ability to challenge the status quo and compete to win
Superior technical knowledge and sound decision-making and analytical skills.
Valid Driver’s license as a company car may be provided
This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (King of Prussia, PA; New York City, NY; Morristown, NJ) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$71,600 - $169,200The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
