The Registered Nurse (RN) provides and coordinates the care of patients/families and significant others in the ambulatory care setting by assessing, diagnosing, planning and intervening in actual or potential health problems, including evaluation of the patient’s response to the care. These responsibilities also include patient/family/significant other education and health maintenance strategies. The RN is a member of a designated health care team and collaborates, coordinates and guides team members in planning patient care and achieving goals. The Registered Nurse demonstrates knowledge of the principles of human growth and development over the life span and the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described by standards and policy and procedures.
Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIRED
AAS/BS in Nursing
EXPERIENCES AND/OR SKILLS REQUIRED
Minimum of one (1) year experience in an Ambulatory/Medical Surgery/ER setting preferred
Bi-lingual, Spanish preferred
Demonstrated ability to plan, make decisions, organize, and direct the work of others
Minimum of two (2) years nursing experience
Demonstrated ability to perform venipuncture and administer medications including immunizations
Demonstrated clinical, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Demonstrated ability to problem solve using critical thinking
Demonstrated basic computer skills including typing
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Licensed Registered Nurse in New York State
Current RN Registration Certificate
Current BCLS
Current Infection Control Certificate
Current Child Abuse Certificate
