    Security Officer Join a Team That Makes a Difference Every Day At The Kearney Center, security is about more than enforcing rules—it’s about creating a safe, welcoming environment where individuals experiencing homelessness can begin rebuilding their lives. We’re looking for compassionate, dependable Security Officers who can balance professionalism with empathy. In this role, you’ll help maintain a secure facility while treating every client, visitor, volunteer, and staff member with dignity and respect.

    You’ll be a visible presence throughout the shelter, helping prevent conflicts, responding to incidents, and supporting a calm and orderly environment. If you’re someone who stays composed under pressure, communicates respectfully, and believes everyone deserves to be treated with kindness, we’d love to meet you.

    What You’ll Do

    • Help maintain a safe and secure environment for clients, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
    • Monitor entrances, conduct routine facility rounds, and observe daily activities.
    • Respond to incidents using de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed practices.
    • Enforce facility policies fairly, consistently, and respectfully.
    • Complete incident reports and communicate important information to supervisors and teammates.
    • Work collaboratively with shelter staff to support client safety and well-being.
    • Contact emergency services or law enforcement when necessary.

    What We’re Looking For

    • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
    • Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
    • Dependable, professional, and accountable.
    • Comfortable working evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
    • Previous security, military, law enforcement, corrections, or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
    • A heart for serving individuals experiencing homelessness and a commitment to treating everyone with dignity and respect.
