Tennis Professional Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Teaches and promotes the junior and adult lesson programs in a professional manner
- Provides a written lesson plan for junior and adult development programs
- Assists in the promotion of events
- Assists in growing league teams, formation of teams, collaborating with captains to balance teams, recruitment of new players and work to form USTA Junior Teams
- Creates a strong social calendar and attends all major tennis functions, tournaments and or parties
- Attends weekly staff meetings
- Assists the Director of Tennis in the creation, coordination and implementation of programs, events, and tournaments
- Assists members with activities such as tennis lessons, leagues, tournaments, or general club activity, etc.
- Promotes The Landings Golf & Athletic Club through the community; actively seeking methods to promote the Club and amenities to the community resulting in 5-10 hours of administrative work weekly and or as necessary
- Assists in necessary court maintenance, when needed
- Reconciles daily lessons/clinics billings at the end of each day
- Secures courts for lessons and clinics
- Maintains his/her lesson books
- Complies with departmental and Club appearance standards
- Complies with departmental and Club policies and procedures
- Works variety of shifts, as needed to include nights, weekends and or holidays
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Tennis Professional Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Two years’ minimum experience in teaching, administration of tournaments, special events and court maintenance procedures
- Experienced in the entire service operation to include pro-shop, court maintenance, intra/inter club league, and USTA sanctions and administration
- Must be a certified member of USTPA and/or PTR
Tennis Professional Critical Skills:
- Ability to read, understand and follow verbal/written instructions
- Ability to manage a diverse workload and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and to deploy resources effectively
- Must have the willingness to provide exceptional service to members and desire to provide leadership to position the department to achieve the mission
- Ability to understand verbal and written direction in English
- Demonstrated success developing and sustaining a strong adult and junior program
- Knowledge of tennis products and merchandise
- Must be able to interpret the rules of tennis
- Must be able to demonstrate solid playing skills
Tennis Professional Physical Demands:
- Stands, runs, and walks for 95% of workday
- Jumps, catches, squats, and moves around 80% of workday
- Lifts, carries, or moves up to 50 pounds for 50% of workday
- Works outdoors in inclement weather for 90% of workday
