    </b></p><p>MITRE Lab’s Energy, Environmental, Material and Chemical Sciences is seeking a senior engineer with expertise in power and energy technologies to work in a dynamic analytical environment focused on solving our customers energy technology and resilience challenges. This department serves as a vanguard for MITRE to meet the future needs of our customers, requiring technical excellence while encouraging creativity and fostering interests in current and emerging technologies across its diverse membership.

    Your future colleagues are a collegial team of energy and environmental engineers, material scientists, systems engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, chemists, physicists, and civil engineers who work across MITRE’s diverse sponsors and partners.</p><p></p><p>MITRE’s advanced energy program provides innovative solutions to strengthen energy resilience and readiness to improve national energy security.

    We are expanding our program to address key challenges and opportunities such as critical energy infrastructure, battery storage, microgrids, and operational energy exercises. </p><p></p><p><b>Roles &

    Responsibilities:

    </b></p><ul><li>Characterizing the maturity, limitations, and capabilities of emerging technologies for battery manufacturing and other battery supply chain steps.</li><li>Evaluation of future battery technology scientific- and market-driven trends and overall limitations in unique MITRE customer environments and within the context of global battery supply chains.</li><li>Identification of battery technology integration and/or deployment challenges through analytical and model-base (e.g., engineering models) assessment.</li><li>Framing and communicating power and energy technology performance and cost in customer applications.</li><li>Transdisciplinary collaboration with diverse experts from across MITRE, our customers, and partners, providing subject matter expertise in batteries and associated technologies.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Basic

    Qualifications:

    </b></p><ul><li>BS and 5 years of relevant experience in one of the following fields: Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, and/or Physics.</li><li>Deep technical expertise in one or more battery technology areas, including: manufacturing processes and quality control, system/application integration, <i>in situ</i> battery management and control system development, safety analysis and management, packaging and ruggedization, or performance testing and prediction.</li><li>The ability to think critically and be proactive in pursuing research and problem-solving with minimal supervision.</li><li>Strong technical writing and oral presentation skills.</li><li>The ability to conduct research and development of new energy and power technologies to meet customer requirements in a collaborative environment with both internal and external researchers. </li><li><i>Must </i><b><i>be eligible to obtain and maintain</i><i> a </i><i>Secret</i></b><i> U.S Government issued Security Clearance.
