    Job Title:

    Research Technician-Medical Oncology

    Department:

    Medicine | IM Medical Oncology

    Scope/Summary:

Dr. Hakimeh Ebrahimi Nik’s Laboratory, situated within the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center (OSUCCC) and the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology (PIIO), is devoted to unraveling the complex interactions between immune cells and tumor cells, with a particular focus on elucidating the functional dynamics of CD8 T cells that demonstrate tumor-rejecting capabilities. We are dedicated to comprehending the multifaceted factors that contribute to the persistence and efficacy of tumor rejecting CD8 T cells within the suppressive environment of the tumor. Using a range of cutting-edge techniques including but not limited to single cell RNA sequencing paired with TCR, CRISPR, western blot on rare cells, and other functional experiments we are trying to improve our understanding of tumor immunology.

We're looking for a highly motivated smart individual to join our team as a Research Technician at OSUCCC and PIIO. Your role will be pivotal in several significant research projects in cancer immunology and immunotherapy. You'll collaborate closely with a postdoctoral fellow or the PI of the lab, so strong organizational and communication skills are crucial. Adaptability to new technologies and a fast-paced work environment is a must. You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to major research publications, when your contributions meaningfully support the work, and participate in national and international conferences, making this role ideal for recent BS graduates aspiring to build a career in medicine or science.

    Required Qualifications

    • A bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or relevant field is required.
    • Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required.
    • The candidate should be highly motivated, organized, and a fast learner, with a strong willingness to learn new techniques and take on new responsibilities.
    • Experience in a biological/health science research capacity is preferred.
    • The university requires completion of a background check and qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
