The Salvation Army Mission Statement:

- BASIC PURPOSE
The purpose of this position is to perform daily janitorial services and provide general maintenance at assigned facilities.
- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain cleanliness of the family services and corps buildings including but not limited to offices, restrooms, classrooms, chapel, kitchen and food pantry
- Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of the vehicle fleet
- Maintain cleanliness of parking lot, lawns and walkways
- Conduct minor facility and equipment repairs
- Maintain inventory of janitorial supplies and maintenance equipment
- Setup and prepare rooms for program usage
- Transport food donations and equipment/supplies as assigned
- Assist with monthly and quarterly safety checks
- Assist with seasonal projects including but not limited to food drives, toy drives, Red Kettles
- Other duties as assigned
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to speak and write the English language at a high and professional level
- Minimum one (1) year of building maintenance and/or janitorial service preferred
- High degree of confidentiality
- Able to endorse and promote The Salvation Army’s mission
- Computer literate, in Windows environment (Microsoft Office), Word, Excel and Outlook preferred
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent and professional telephone etiquette and presence
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong ability to utilize a high level of time management and handling multiple tasks
- CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- High school diploma
- Must possess ServSafe Food Handler certification
- Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
- Must be 21 years or older
- Authorize The Salvation Army to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice Program
- Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training
- Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check.
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis
- Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects
- Ability to reach overhead
- Ability to operate telephone
- Ability to lift up to 50-70 lbs.
- Ability to operate a computer
- Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information
- Ability to operate basic office equipment and tools PC, Fax Machine, Telephone, Calculator, Copier, Printer.
