Civil Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

The Civil Engineer is an entry-level engineering position responsible for providing technical support, including drafting and design, in the development/design of basic civil infrastructure, including paving, drainage, grading, water, and sanitary sewer improvements (individuals may focus on all areas or just one or two areas of specific expertise) with supervision.

MAJOR TASKS

• Perform assigned engineering tasks with supervision.
• Assist the project team in the development and design of basic paving, drainage, grading, water, and sanitary sewer infrastructure, which consists of plans, specifications, and cost opinions.
• Ensures conformity with the project scope and applicable design standards.
• Interpret rough sketches and plan redlines to create and edit plans/drawings.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and assist with cost opinions of design elements.
• May prepare project-related technical reports.
• Conduct property and existing utility research as needed.
• May interact with staff representatives of jurisdictional agencies to obtain approvals of drawings and specifications for permitting and construction phases of the project.
• Other duties as assigned.

JOB SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Problem solving and decision-making.
• Knowledge and understanding of the basic design principles with civil engineering including, but not limited to: hydraulics, hydrology, soil mechanics, structural design, environmental design and land surveying
• Proficient in current aided design (CAD) and production software and ability to learn new versions or new technology.

STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE

Topographic OM, Inc. in office Standard business hours is Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. The specific schedule for this role will be based on location and department.
