Senior Full Stack Developer (Platforms - fixed term)

This is a 12 month fixed term role 
Our team builds the foundational platforms that empower our engineering teams to create experiences that truly matter to New Zealanders. As a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer in our Platforms team, you'll be at the heart of enhancing our developer ecosystem, improving system performance, and ensuring the reliability of the services that underpin our iconic brand. Here is what you can expect from this role:

• Mentorship: Mentor other engineers within the team and the wider engineering community at Trade Me.
  
• Process Improvement: Find and address challenges in our development lifecycle to improve developer velocity and system health.
  
• Innovation: Identify and apply new, innovative technologies to solve complex platform-level challenges, focusing on scalability, reliability, and developer experience.
  
• Planning & Design: Design, estimate, and plan foundational work for the squad, ensuring it aligns with the technical vision of the platform.
  
• Development: Write high-quality, maintainable code and tests to deliver on the strategic goals of your squad and the platform.
  
• Ownership: Take technical ownership and accountability for the core platform services and infrastructure projects within your squad.
  
• Collaboration: Peer review code and architectural designs from other developers, providing constructive feedback to elevate our engineering standards.
  
• Operations: Build, test, release, and monitor the foundational services you ship, with a strong focus on SLOs, observability, and operational excellence.
  
• Documentation: Create clear and comprehensive documentation for the platforms and tools you build, enabling other teams to self-serve and build upon your work.
  
• Technical Strategy: Contribute to discussions and initiatives that improve the core Trade Me codebase, architecture, and long-term technical design.

What you will bring to our team:

• Senior level experience in full stack development, with strong proficiency in C# (.NET) and front-end technologies like CSS, JavaScript, and/or Angular.
• Hands-on experience developing with AI tools, and a natural curiosity to continue weaving them into your everyday work. 
• A deep understanding of relational databases and SQL (ideally Microsoft SQL Server), along with excellent knowledge of OO design patterns and SOLID principles.
  
• A proven track record of technical ownership and accountability for significant projects.
  
• A natural talent for mentorship and a genuine desire to help your teammates grow and excel.
  
• A highly organised and self-directed approach, combined with a proactive mindset to tackle challenges head-on in a fast-paced environment.
  
• A keen eye for detail and a commitment to crafting elegant, testable code that stands the test of time.
  
• Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, enabling you to be a trusted advisor to your squad and stakeholders.
