The role

The Head of Payments is a senior member of Trading 212 Money Europe Limited's (the 'Company' or 'T212 MIE') Payments function, supporting the Chief Operating Officer in establishing and maintaining a robust compliance framework. The role carries delegated responsibility for the day-to-day payment operations as a Central Bank of Ireland (CBI)-regulated Payment Institution.

The Head of Payments deputises for the Chief Operating Officer in their absence or where otherwise required, including in engagement with the CBI and other authorities.

What you’ll do

• Develop, implement, and maintain the Company's payment operations framework to ensure payment services are delivered in compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements.

• Own and operate the Company's payment services, including the issuance of T212 debit cards, both physical and virtual and the execution of payment transactions through payment cards and credit transfers.

• Run the Cash Account and the T212 Card day-to-day across all channels.

• Manage the operational relationship with the issuer processor and with the card scheme.

• Maintain payment settlements, operating accounts, and daily reconciliation processes.

• Oversee chargebacks, disputes, and notifications of fraud.

• Detect, classify, manage, and escalate operational and security incidents affecting payment services, and support the notification process to stakeholders and clients.

• Produce dashboards and detailed reports for the Board and global governance committees.

• Lead the Payments team, building the function and fostering a culture of operational excellence.

• Act as a trusted advisor, providing expert guidance for new products and initiatives, working closely with compliance, risk, product, fraud, and tech teams to embed appropriate structures, automation, and processes within the design.

• Engender a strong organisation-wide culture of compliance and best practices.

What you need to have

• Professional certifications such as QFA, ACCA, PMP/Prince, Certified Payments Professional designation, and/or equivalent are an advantage.

• Educated to a degree level in Finance, Business, Technology, or a related field is desirable.

• 5+ years of senior payments operations experience within EEA or Irish-regulated financial services (Payments) is required.

• Demonstrable experience of card issuing operations, including work with an issuer processor, a card scheme and a card production supplier.

• Practical experience of payment settlement, funding models, and daily reconciliation, and of the controls that sit around them.

• Experience with retail clients and/or consumers is a requirement.

• In-depth knowledge of European and Irish legislation, regulations, and guidance relating to European Payment Services and Electronic Money Directives.
