The Center for the Study of Global Christianity estimates that 95% of pastors have no formal biblical or theological training. Training Leaders International exists to strengthen the church by sending teachers to train pastors. One was we do this is by working with local partners around the world to plant and staff seminaries.
Volunteer Seminary Instructors help us accomplish our mission by teaching classes in critical disciplines where our local partners are needing faculty.
TLI has an experienced cadre of scholars that work with local partners to coordinate the training program of each site. Volunteer Instructors are normally expected to create their own class curriculum, syllabi, and assessments in consultation with TLI's site coordinator. Assessments are normally graded in cooperation with our local partners.
For those either nearing the completion of their degree (ThM, or equivalent, or higher) and desiring more classroom experience, TLI matches Volunteer Instructors with one of our team to help walk through course design, and to team-teach the class.
Volunteer Seminary Instructors must:
- Be above reproach (1 Tim. 3:1-7)
- Be in warm agreement with the TGC Confessional Statement
- Be a member of and actively serving in their local church
- Normally have a ThM degree or higher, or have substantial experience in ministry (we are happy to discuss this on case-by-case basis)
- Have a deep understanding of their subject matter
- Be comfortable teaching in a cross-cultural environment
- Have a love for Christ, for his church, for their subject, and for their students
