    The Role: Family and Youth Resource Network Specialist (Full Time, Permanent)

    The Family and Youth Resource Network Specialist supports the wellbeing of children, youth, and families through responsive programs, services, and community-based supports. This role promotes healthy child and youth development, strengthens caregiver knowledge and confidence, and helps families build meaningful community connections.

    Working with families, community organizations, schools, and other partners, the Specialist helps deliver accessible and inclusive services that respond to local needs. Services are provided through individual, group, and community-based approaches.

    This position is based in Strathmore, Alberta, and serves families across the surrounding region, including Wheatland County and Rocky View County. The role requires a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, with services delivered in the Family Resource Hub, community settings, and family homes.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Family Support & Service Navigation

    • Create a welcoming, inclusive environment and provide trauma-informed intake, assessment, service planning, and case management
    • Support families with service navigation, coaching, advocacy, referrals, and connections to FRN and community services.
    • Strengthen family wellbeing, natural supports, child safety, and crisis or safety planning.

    Program Delivery

    • Deliver prevention, early intervention, and intensive supports through individual, family, and group-based services.
    • Facilitate parenting, child development, and youth programs, including Triple P, Circle of Security, Connect Parenting, Kids Have Stress Too, and GLOW Girls.
    • Support social connection, resilience, and community belonging while using culturally responsive and traditional approaches.

    Partnerships & Community Engagement

    • Build collaborative relationships with families, schools, Children's Services, community partners, and other service providers.
    • Participate in network coordination, partnership development, and community-based service planning.

    Documentation & Reporting

    • Maintain accurate client records and complete documentation, reporting, evaluation, and outcome measurement activities.

    Other Duties

    • Perform other related duties as required.

    Knowledge and Skills Expectations

    • Diploma, degree, or certificate in Social Work, Social Services, or a related human services field; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
    • Experience supporting children, youth, and families, with knowledge of child and adolescent development, family systems, attachment, grief and loss, positive parenting, and trauma-informed practice.
    • Strong assessment, critical thinking, problem-solving, and engagement skills, with the ability to respond to diverse and complex family needs.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships with families, partners, and teams.
    • Knowledge of community resources, mental health, and family support services, with the ability to connect families to appropriate supports.
    • Experience with documentation, outcome measurement, electronic case management systems, and general computer applications.
    • Adaptable, resourceful, and comfortable delivering creative, family-centred services in changing environments.
    • Valid driver's Licence, reliable vehicle, appropriate insurance, and a current driver's abstract.
    • Successful completion of a Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Record Check.

    Reporting Relationship

    This position reports directly to the Program Manager of the Chestermere and Strathmore Hub.
