What You Will Do:
Prepare, process, embed, section, stain, and coverslip tissue specimens for microscopic examination.
Accession, label, and maintain accurate documentation for all tissue samples and testing activities.
Perform routine histology, special stains, and immunohistochemistry (IHC) procedures.
Troubleshoot staining quality, instrumentation, and workflow issues; document corrective actions.
Support validation and implementation of new histology and IHC technologies.
Train and mentor staff and students while assisting with competency assessments.
Maintain tissue banks, reagents, and laboratory supplies needed for testing.
Adhere to quality assurance, quality control, safety, and regulatory standards, including CLIA and CAP requirements.
Assist with the development, review, and revision of departmental policies and procedures.
Serve as a technical resource and contribute to a clean, organized, and efficient laboratory environment.
Minimum Requirements:
BS degree from accredited college/university with a combination of 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) of biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both) AND successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician or Histotechnology program.
Must have at least 5 years of experience as a Histotechnologist
HTL ASCP required; Qualification in IHC (QIHC) by ASCP
Must have experience in the following areas: Fixation, Microtomy, Processing, Staining, IHC staining, IHC optimization and validation.
