Join the software platform team at a seed-stage robotics AI startup as its hands-on architecture leader. You will own the architecture of a SaaS platform for connecting and managing general-purpose robots across a fleet, spanning edge devices, cloud services, frontend applications, and AI capabilities. You will help set the technical foundation as the engineering team grows.
Design and own the end-to-end platform architecture, including robot connectivity, fleet management, data pipelines, and model training workflows.
Set technical direction across frontend, backend, robot-side software, and infrastructure, making key decisions as the platform scales.
Write and review production code, especially while establishing foundational abstractions and architecture.
Integrate AI agents and related capabilities safely, with appropriate guardrails for systems that control physical robots.
Lead and grow the software platform team, and establish engineering standards and architecture review processes.
At least 8 years of experience in platform architecture, with ownership of system design across distributed backends and frontend systems.
Staff or Principal-level experience architecting platforms for hardware, IoT, connected devices, robotics, or fleet management.
Experience designing systems across edge, cloud, and frontend, including distributed services and real-time device communication.
Hands-on coding experience, with regular contributions to production code and architecture ownership across multiple teams.
Familiarity with technologies and concepts such as WebSockets, gRPC, pub/sub, APIs, data pipelines, OTA updates, and AI agent systems.
A degree in computer science or a related technical field, comfort using AI tools in software development, and startup or early-stage leadership experience are valuable.
Salary range: $250,000 to $400,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
