    Job description

    Product Owner Data and Integrations

    Location: Bangalore

Overview: Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced and business-focused Product Owner to lead the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of data and integrations teams for an enterprise eCommerce application. This role will serve as the bridge between business stakeholders, technology teams, data engineering, architecture, and external partners to translate business needs into scalable data flows, APIs, integration requirements, and prioritized product backlogs. The Product Owner will drive outcomes that improve data quality, system interoperability, operational efficiency, and user adoption while ensuring solutions meet security, governance, performance, and compliance expectations. The role requires techno-functional skills to analyze data, write SQLs, create and update field mappings, and debug issues with cross-platform teams.

    Responsibilities:

    • Own and maintain the product vision, roadmap, and prioritized backlog for data and integrations teams.
    • Be the SME for APIs, and data process flows.
    • Partner with business stakeholders to understand objectives, pain points, reporting needs, process gaps, and integration requirements, translating them into clear user stories and acceptance criteria.
    • Collaborate with data engineering, application development, architecture, security, and QA teams to design and deliver scalable, reliable, and secure data and integration solutions.
    • Ensure data quality, lineage, governance, privacy, and compliance considerations are embedded into product requirements and delivery decisions.
    • Manage sprint planning, backlog refinement, release planning, demos, and stakeholder reviews in alignment with Agile delivery practices.
    • Evaluate technical feasibility, business value, risk, and dependency impacts when prioritizing features, enhancements, defects, and technical debt.
    • Work with teams to establish performance, reliability, monitoring, and support expectations for data pipelines, APIs, and integration services.
    • Support user acceptance testing by validating that delivered capabilities meet business objectives, functional requirements, and defined acceptance criteria.
    • Coordinate cross-functional dependencies across internal teams, external vendors, and enterprise platforms to ensure successful end-to-end delivery.
    • Communicate product status, roadmap priorities, delivery risks, decisions, and outcomes clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
    • Drive adoption and continuous improvement by gathering feedback, monitoring usage, measuring product success, and identifying opportunities to enhance data and integration capabilities.

    Qualifications:

    • 6-8 years of experience in product ownership, business analysis, solution delivery, data platforms, integrations, or enterprise application delivery.
    • Demonstrated experience defining product roadmaps, managing backlogs, writing user stories, and prioritizing work based on business value, technical feasibility, and stakeholder impact.
    • Functional understanding of APIs and data integration concepts, including APIs, ETL/ELT, data pipelines, batch and real-time processing, data mapping, and system interoperability.
    • Experience working with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce, ERP, CRM, data warehouses, data lakes, middleware, iPaaS, or integration platforms.
    • Ability to translate complex business processes and data needs into clear functional and technical requirements for engineering and delivery teams.
    • Familiarity with data governance, data quality, data privacy, master data management, lineage, security, and compliance considerations.
    • Experience working in Agile Scrum teams, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, demos, retrospectives, and release planning.
    • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with business users, technical teams, vendors, architects, QA teams, and leadership.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain data and integration concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance strategic product direction with day-to-day delivery decisions.
    • Experience with product management and delivery tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms.
    • Knowledge of cloud data platforms, API management, event streaming, middleware, or modern integration architecture is preferred.
    • Relevant certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner, SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, Salesforce, cloud, data, or integration certifications are preferred.
