    Job description

    About Ubiquiti

At Ubiquiti Inc., we create technology platforms for Businesses, Smart Homes, and Internet Service Providers, driven by our goal to connect everyone, everywhere. To date, Ubiquiti has shipped over 100 million devices worldwide, from ISP networking products to next generation of IT solutions. Our growth is made possible by the dedicated team of hundreds behind the scenes. From software developers and product managers to designers and strategists, Team UI is driven to achieve our common goal: Rethinking IT. At Ubiquiti, you’ll heighten your potential and broaden your horizons - all while shaping the future of connectivity.

Responsibilities (What he/she will do after joining UI)

    - Own system-level DQA and validation activities for Energy Storage System (ESS) products throughout the NPI lifecycle.

    - Develop test plans and qualification criteria for ESS reliability, functionality, performance, safety, and system integration.

    - Validate ESS architectures, including battery packs, BMS, PCS/inverters, EMS, power distribution, protection circuits, and grid interaction.

    - Perform system integration testing for charge/discharge, grid-connected operation, backup power, load transitions, power outages, and recovery scenarios.

    - Define and execute reliability validation, including temperature, thermal cycling, humidity, vibration, ESD, surge, and long-term operation.

    - Validate BMS protection mechanisms, including over/under-voltage, over-current, short-circuit, temperature protection, SOC/SOH, and cell balancing.

    - Validate PCS/Inverter performance, including conversion efficiency, load response, abnormal operating conditions, and protection mechanisms.

    - Conduct high-power and thermal validation for battery cells, connectors, terminals, busbars, relays/contactors, and other high-current paths.

    - Conduct failure analysis (FA), root cause investigation, and corrective action verification for NPI, reliability, and field/RMA issues.

    - Apply FMEA/DFMEA, MTBF, statistical analysis, and field lessons learned to improve test coverage and prevent recurrence.

    - Support second-source qualification, engineering changes, Control Run validation, and sustaining quality activities.

    - Collaborate with EE, ME, FW, BMS, Power Electronics, PM, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to drive quality improvements.

    Requirement (Must-Haves)

    • Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical/Electronics, Power Electronics, Energy Engineering, or related fields.
    • 5+ years of experience in hardware/system validation, reliability, or design quality engineering.
    • Experience with ESS/BESS, UPS, PV/Solar Inverter, EV Charger, or other high-power systems.
    • Strong knowledge of Battery Pack, BMS, PCS/Inverter, EMS, and AC/DC power systems.
    • Familiar with Li-ion/LFP/NMC batteries, SOC, SOH, DOD, internal resistance, cycle life, and cell balancing.
    • Experience with BMS protection, high-current/thermal, environmental, ESD, and surge validation.
    • Proficient with oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, electronic loads, power supplies, data loggers, and thermal chambers.
    • Capable of independently developing test plans, conducting FA, and verifying corrective actions.
    • Knowledge of FMEA/DFMEA, MTBF, reliability engineering, and statistical analysis.
    • Strong system-level problem-solving skills with an end-user-oriented mindset.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with residential/commercial ESS, BESS, solar energy storage, or hybrid inverters.
    • Experience with Battery/BMS Analyzers, battery cyclers, and high-power test systems.
    • Knowledge of PCS/Inverter, MPPT, DC bus, grid interface, and backup operation.
    • Familiar with CAN, RS-485/Modbus, Ethernet, and BMS/EMS communication.
    • Familiar with UL 9540/9540A, UL 1973, UL 1741, IEEE 1547, or IEC 62619.
    • Experience with battery safety, thermal runaway risk, RMA/field analysis, or reliability lab management is a plus.
