As a Patient Care Technician, you play a vital role in delivering compassionate and essential care to our patients. Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care, including assisting with personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, and comfort measures.
- Monitors and records vital signs, intake and output, and other patient data accurately and promptly.
- Assists nurses with medical procedures, examinations, and treatments as directed.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and organized patient environment, ensuring supplies are stocked and accessible.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, relaying important information and concerns.
- Responds to patient calls and requests promptly, addressing immediate needs or escalating to appropriate staff.
- Documents observations, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic health record according to established protocols.
- Supports patient independence and dignity, encouraging participation in self-care activities when appropriate.
- Reports any changes in patient condition or behavior to the nursing staff immediately.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Possesses a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completes an approved Patient Care Technician (PCT) program or equivalent medical assistant/nursing assistant training.
Experience
- Demonstrates an understanding of basic patient care principles, gained through training or prior experience.
Knowledge/Skills
- Applies basic medical terminology and anatomical knowledge.
- Exhibits strong interpersonal and communication skills, fostering trust and rapport with patients and colleagues.
- Shows empathy, compassion, and patience in all patient interactions.
- Follows verbal and written instructions accurately and efficiently.
- Maintains strict confidentiality of patient information.
- Performs basic computer skills for documentation and communication.

Preferred Qualifications
- Holds current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Possesses prior experience in a hospital, clinic, or long-term care setting.
- Has experience with phlebotomy or EKG procedures.
Physical Requirements/Work Conditions
- Stands, walks, and moves for extended periods during shifts.
- Lifts, pushes, and pulls up to 50 pounds, including assisting with patient transfers and repositioning.
- Bends, stoops, kneels, and reaches frequently.
- Works in an environment with potential exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and unpleasant odors.
- Tolerates a dynamic and sometimes stressful work environment.
- Possesses visual and auditory acuity to assess patient conditions and communicate effectively.
