    Biology Agricultural Research Technologist

    Student interns will oversee various research projects within the natural sciences laboratories. These projects will typically be environmental/agriculturally focused, with a heavy emphasis on mushrooms. However, internship might include more advanced research work in medicinal plant/fungal extracts. Students in this position will be given advanced research and management responsibilities, including advanced data analyzing and performing standardized experiments.

    This position is ideal for students interested in biological sciences and research experience.

    Responsibilities and Career Competencies:

    1. Organize and maintain a clean and working research laboratory: C, TW, P
    2. Assist senior research personnel in prepping sterile substrates (agar, grain, etc…): C, TW, P, CSD, CT, L, T
    3. Assist with the design and implementation of novel agriculture research projects: C, TW, P, CSD, CT, CTR, L, T
    4. Inoculate, incubate, and harvest mushrooms and hydroponic vegetables: C, TW, P, L, T, CSD
    5. Oversee Biology Research Technician Work Study employees’ maintenance on hydroponic and mushroom cultivation units: C, TW, T, CSD, L

    Qualifications: Full-time UPIKE student in good academic standing. This position is ideal for junior or senior students interested in biological sciences and research experience who already have extensive research experience and are looking at more of an advanced, supervisory role.

    Additional Comments:  Student must work a minimum of 80 hours in the semester. Student must enroll concurrently into CVL 401: Integrated Internship Experience and successfully complete this course.
