    Job description

This posting is set up to receive an application for adjunct faculty already identified by University of Richmond’s School of Professional & Continuing Studies. We are not currently recruiting for these positions, and you should only apply if you have been specifically instructed to by either University of Richmond’s Human Resource Department or the School of Professional & Continuing Studies.
Adjunct faculty members in the School of Professional & Continuing Studies teach courses that draw upon their rich variety of academic disciplines and work experiences.  All part-time faculty must meet SACSCOC (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools – Commission on Colleges) requirements.  For the SPCS undergraduate programs, an individual must have earned either a master’s degree in their respective teaching field or a master’s degree in another field with at least 18 hours of master’s level work for the field in which they will teach.  For the graduate level courses, an individual must have a doctorate in the appropriate teaching field.
All forms requested by the SPCS and the University’s Human Resources Office as well as official transcripts are required prior to a contract being issued.
Adjunct faculty will be expected to meet classes as scheduled, to strive to improve teaching effectiveness, to take a sympathetic interest in the progress and development of each student, to keep accurate records of the academic standing of each student, and to hand in promptly all reports of grades and other information required by the dean, the registrar, the provost, or the president.   Adjunct faculty are expected to attend the two adjunct faculty meetings, SPCS Night (held in May of each year) as well as the SPCS Commencement Ceremony.
